Women in Construction.

Thinking back to when I was at school, I never in a million years thought I would be working in the construction industry. Having started my secondary education in a female only high school, it was never a careers option that was talked about or even explored.

When you think of an industry dominated by men, Construction might be one of the first that comes to mind - that was certainly how I felt.

There are several well documented factors that explain this gender gap, from unconscious gender bias, to lack of adequate training, to overall perceptions of women working in construction.

Although we are still underrepresented, we are making significant progress as leaders in the industry and it is encouraging to see more and more women working in Construction.

My experience working in the industry has been nothing but positive. Everyday is different. It is fast paced, challenging and rewarding. I am determined to keep spreading that message as it might reach out to someone who has never considered working in the industry. It is true what they say;

"𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝 𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨."
