Whilst conducting Document Control Interviews with a client recently, I was 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀.

As a Document Controller you are working in a position where you have a lot of contact with Clients and it is important to have a client centred approach. 😁
𝙍𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 that businesses that develop long-term relationships generally make for greater success within their projects and they are more likely to receive repeat business! A client centred approach is should be one of your key marketing strategies!
𝗠𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝟯 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲:
🗣𝘿𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 -Timely, efficient communication should be a priority. In a project environment it is key to ensure clear and correct communication. Ensure that reports are accurate and deliver them in a timely fashion.
🧠 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚 –Often when working with a client you may note that you have more experience and knowledge in terms of Document Control. This is your opportunity to share information that will help the client and this will also build trust and confidence.
👍🏼 𝙈𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚 –There is nothing worse than a ‘Negative Nancy’ on the project team. As overwhelmed as you may feel, it’s important to show a positive attitude to your clients. Enthusiasm and passion are appealing personality traits that people enjoying working with – keep it positive.
